Studio Praja

Nine. There are so many things about this number.

The address is Jl Praja Dalam D no 54, Jakarta. 5+4 is 9. The telephone number is 729 17 63. 6+3 is 9. Even my car is 1800 JA. 1+8 is 9.

But the most special thing about this number is my 9 years doing what I love the most in this memorable place: photography. So many moments, memories, passions, success, failures and most of all, love, have been shared under this roof. It’s a real proof of determination. A real story of fighting and believing.

Now it’s time to say good bye. Praja has a new owner, who’s also in love with this place. We’re moving to our new place, to continue making history… in photography, and in life.

Happy, Happy, Happy New Year, Good People!

There are so many reviews of what’s best in 2012, so I decided to make one too. You’d probably agree with my choices.

Best Gadget: iPhone 5. Although I only got it as Christmas present from my wife last week, it wouldn’t take long to decide that Apple has done another great job. It’s not a surprising breakthrough, but its fine, detailed, unmatched craftsmanship once again has won my heart.

Mejeng sebelum Grand Final

Ini kedua kalinya saya kebagian diminta untuk memotret Miss Celebrity oleh SCTV. Tidak seperti tahun sebelumnya, SCTV kapok kali ini dan enggak mau lagi saya kerjain. Pemotretan tahun lalu dilakukan di pulau Seribu (lihat disini), melibatkan 20 skenario yang berbeda dalam satu hari. Walau hasilnya bikin mereka puas, tapi pinggang dan hati pegel katanya nyiapin seabrek props, ngatur perjalanan dan kejar-kejaran dengan matahari.

It was my first time shooting for a beauty pageant contest. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in this fun experience. The creative team from SCTV (who invented Miss Celebrity), Yosie and his producer Moenir, called me with a request, “Bring us photos that will surprise us, different to any other existing beauty contests pictures in Indonesia, but got to be easy to enjoy, and without making our contestants ugly.” So I did.
